Top 10 Pro's & Con's for the iPad

The computing 'middle' ground category has been created and filled in a single sweep! They did it. As I lie on my couch: laptop too big / iPhone too small = iPad just right. Most people get it but some do not. The middle is here and real comfortable lying next to me on the couch. Wife? What wife?

It's not all romance........ But the future is real nice!

1. For times when we are just emailing, Googling, Youtubing, Tweeting, FB'ing, reading the paper, reading a book etc....... iPad! Editing the website, creating the next killer app & gizmo accessory, balancing the budget....... MacBook. Think Daytime/Nighttime, work time/playtime. Do you get it now?

2. Kindle Killer? Yes. It does so much more! How could it not be? Does Amazon still have a chance? Definitely!iBooks looks great and seems to have great features but (at the moment) it's lacking one big thing..... BOOKS! Amazon still has the largest selection. What Amazon needs to do is keep improving the kindle app as it is lacking right now. I WANT to get books in iBooks but can't seem to find the ones I want in the book store! So for now, Kindle App! Amazon needs to stay on top as losing the kindle isn't that bad but losing their ebook sales is major!

3. Real expensive digital photo frame! Looks great charging on the kitchen counter standing up all nice and proper in it's new iPad case. Now if I can just keep it clean from all the fingerprints! Laptop doesn't cut it as a digital photo frame (not like the iPad!).

4. Kitchen table is way too crowded for the laptop. My Sunday morning is sprawled with the laptop, 2 newspapers, coffee, some food (under the NYT). I am looking forward to the day it is just me, my iPad, coffee and maybe there will be room for uhhhm my wife! iPad is great on the counter; recipes, newspaper etc.

5. But (as pee wee Herman says "everyone has a big but, Lets talk about your big but!) the newspaper apps are not there yet. Need to be similar to the iBook experience and not cost more than the actual newspaper. So newspapers are still on the counter with my coffee but laptop is definitely replaced with the iPad!

And of course when it comes to control, the iPad is one remote that will never get lost in the couch cushions!Turning your iPad into a universal remote is as easy as Connect, Select, Control!

I know I said top 10 but knowing how this Twittering, bitly, tiny(url) fast paced social media audience is dying to get to the next story, I'll leave it at 5 (and a half). Be back with more later!

What is an iPhone Remote?

The iPhone and iPod touch or iPod for that matter is a personal device. As for the iPhone it is more about personal convenience. It goes with You, wherever you go and helps you be more efficient; to be in control where-ever you go, to do the things you need to do when you need to, where ever you are……

Can an iPhone remote replace all of your existing remotes? Yes. Will it? No. Not unless of course, everyone existing in that environment also has an iPhone or iPod Touch (and soon to be iPad). Not a bad idea as far as Apple is concerned.

What it will do is allow you to control what you want, when you want, where you want. The ultimate in convenience: make a call, send an email, check your stocks, change the TV channel!

For a device to be a true convenience, it must be #1 easy to configure and #2 easy to use. And of course if it’s on the iPhone, it must be ‘cool’ looking and ‘cool’ to use.

That’s what iGi strived for with IRB1 and i-Got-Control! With its three easy steps; Connect, Select, Control and built in World-Wide IR Library, i-Got-Control is a convenience item that is fun to use and easy to configure. We know you will feel the same and take this device with you whether you are traveling from room to room, house to house, hotel room to hotel room. Take convenience with you and be in control wherever you go!

T Minus 44 and counting

On January 27th, 2010, Apple rocked my world with the announcement of the iPad! And of course, there were those of you that said nay and grumbled off to poo poo the whole concept.

After all, if you have a Mobile Phone and a Laptop Computer, why on earth would you need the iPad?

Well, unless you live under a rock or have been away for a long time, perhaps basking in the sun on some beautiful beach in the south pacific where the ability to have dial-up doesn't even exist, then your pretty aware that there's a change a foot.

It's called "The Cloud." Isn't that cool? "The Cloud." Some of you are already using Cloud based services like LaLa or Pandora or Google Documents.

"The Cloud," services and storage based on the Internet will change the way we all work and play. Not too dissimilar to what happened with the iPhone. No longer will you be tied down to a single desktop or laptop computer. No longer will you say, "Oh I have that information but it's on my computer at work."

The iPad gives you access to your information wherever you go and it's not bad as an ebook reader either. In fact, I can see lots of Colleges and University's changing over to the "green" e-format and requiring every student to have an iPad.

I can't wait for the release of the iPad. I can't wait for this next evolution. Sign me up. I'm in technology heaven!
